She has worked with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings and has extensive experience doing parent training, school consultations, and psychological and behavioral assessments. Additionally, while earning her doctorate in psychology, Dr. Gotler conducted research focused on increasing prevention and intervention strategies for adolescent girls coping with relational aggression/bullying (also known as "mean girls" issues).
Dr. Gotler primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of psychological difficulties, but integrates aspects of other treatment orientations to meet the individual needs of her patients and families. These techniques include psychodynamic, interpersonal, dialectical behavior therapy (including mindfulness), behavior modification, and family systems.
